My Nephew's Graduation and Swearing in - for Sketchy Thursday

These are pictures I have had for 2-3 years now. My Nephew Graduated from "The Royal Military College" and was sworn into the Canadian Armed Forces as an Officer. Since then he has been posted to the East Coast and now Northern Ontario. As we speak he is in California training in the heat to prepare to be deployed to Afghanistan in April!

We are all very proud of him.

This is a card sketch from http://sketchythursdays.blogspot.com/ you could do a card or make it into a layout! Since this year I have decided to dedicate myself to layouts and come out of my comfort zone, this was perfect for me.  The sketch spoke to me and this is what I came up with.

Dance

This is a layout that is reaching out of my comfort zone. I still do pretty standard layouts, but for a few months now I have been seeing this type of layout around the internet! I have loved they style but have not been able to apply my techniques to it. Usually this type of simple, single picture, centre of the page layout is done on a single colour back ground, but I am just not there yet. I tried but I had to add this patterned paper. Maybe next time!

Who Am I - Post three

This is a new's paper advert. from 1988. 

I had spent a year at Sutton Hair Dressing School to get my hair stylist licence, graduating top of my class, and scoring 100% on my exams!  Do to the lack of money to be made at the time, I worked as a stylist for only a couple of years then went into office work.  To this very day though I still cut a certain amount of hair from home.

Who Am I - Post two

The first picture is me at around one I would say,

so taken in 1968-69.

The second is of my brother and my self the day we did our open water dives to become certified as "Scuba Divers"! 

The photo was taken in about 1990. 

Wow, do the math, 20 years ago, that makes me sound old.

 Now I am fat and old......crap!  LOL

Then that makes my brother really old since he is 10 years older than me!

Who Am I - Post one

The First Phots was taken by my husband when we had been dating about a month in 1993.

The second photo was taken at a scrapbooking christmas dinner party in 2007.

I have to be honest and tell you this book has been year's in the making and most of it has just been rolling around in my head. I was inspired at a crop I attended with my Niece Jennifer, Dear Friend Charmaine and Charmaines friend (who's name escapes me right now). Any way Char's friend had undergone lapband surgery and has lost an incredible amount of weight! She made a scrapbook of her weight loss journey, including photos all along the way, a wonderful diary of her emotional journey thru it, it was completely amazing! She inspired me. So since over the past 10 or so years I have packed on an incredible amount of weight, I thought I would make myself a similar diet journal! Last year I started my book and this was the first page.....and like my weight loss in 2009 it did not go too far. Over that past year I have come across photos and mementos from my life and my book has evolved from a weight loss journal to a "Life’s Pictorial about Me"! Who I am! It is still an emotional journey, life has had its twists and turns, but now my book is half full! Maybe in 2010 I will be able to add some weight loss journaling in as well! Who knows!

Royal Ontario Museum

A couple of years ago we too a trip to the "ROM", Royal Ontario Museum!

The children were amazed! My daughter loves Rock's and my son loves Dinosaur’s, so they were both in their element! We spent the whole day at the museum had a nice lunch in the museum restaurant.

It was a great day.
