Sick Kids Layout #2 - Glamed up!

New Glamed up Layout!

A few posts back is where I origionally posted this layout, minus the rinestone swirls.  I am not a believer in going back and changing layouts once they are done, but this one just kept yelling to me,
 "I am not done yet",
so I re-visited it and added some sparkle.  Now it feels finished.

Origional Plain Layout!

Creativity "Outside" - "Muck's Pond"

As most of you "my blogger friends" know, my daughter had an accident (a really badly broken arm).  Her recover period is going to extend over most of the summer leaving her with "Zero" sports options, except swiming.  Down the road from us is a natural pond and stream, my kids spend alot of time there and bring home dozens of frogs (yestereday they had 40, yes I said 40), which for the past few summers have lived in buckets and pails, until I finally order them back to the pond for release.

Well my husband decided Friday he would build her a pond she could keep her friends in a much nicer enviornment than a pail, we are hoping it will make up for her lack of sports options this summer, and keep her happy and busy.

So Welcome to the beginnings of "Muck's Pond"

My husbands name for her since she was a baby is "Muck"!

This is one of her little friends investigating his new home!

You can see two more of her froggies here, one is hiding under the fake ferns I had to incorporate for now!  They need shade and somewhere to hide, this is the best I could do for now, I plan to get her some water plants and more lillies for the outside, but fake is better than nothing for now.

Sick Kids Layout #2

This layout was done with products all from Close to My Heart!
Felicity Collection paper, twilight ribbon, twinkle brads  and paper flowers.
I used the recipe for glimmer paint using CTMH create-a-shade paint and re-inker mixed with alcohol to spray the word "ouch" the shimmery shade of red.

Sick Kids Layout #1

I love the modern layouts where one area is very busy, but I just can't leave the card stock blank it feels unfinished.  So I used a cuttlebug embossing folder with my marble rolling pin on my card stock, 12 x12 card stock does not fit in the cuttle but or sizzix (I am still using my old red origional sizzix and it works like a charm with everything!) so I just put my emblossing folder over the paper and roll it with my marble rolling pin!  I have a couple of roses I made from off white satin ribbon, paper/card stock (The Felicity Collection), paper flowers and glitter brads from Close to My Heart and the butter flies are made with a new embossing die by sizzix for Sampin UP.

This is my daugter having her arm assessed by the on Call "Ortho" doctor at our local hospital, before our adventure at Sick Kids Hospital Begins!

Thanks for your patients!

Dear blogger friends,

Thank you for your patients with my "lack of posts".  Since my daughters hospitalization I have not had the time or focus for my "paper crafting life".  You don't realize how much your children do for themselves and around the house until they can't do it anymore.  Like: dress themselves, cut their meet, poor their drinks, do up seatbelts.......helping with unloading the dryer or dishwasher.....WOW, its like stepping back in time.

She is definatly improving everyday, her cast (cast #3) as been removed and the and the rods have been removed from her elbow and arm.  She has hardly any range of movement in the elbow but it should improve everyday.

Her arm and elbow are super sensitive and we have to be sure it does not get banged, or reinjured.  That means this no gym, no sports, no 4-wheeler, no bike, no anything for 3+ months.....can you say board child.

Anyway, I have not forgotten my blogging frineds, I am just needed more than ever!  I will postg when I can!

Huggs!

Dear Diary,

Dear Diary,

Sorry I have not posted, I have been staying at sick kids hospital with my daughter since Friday, she broke her arm right in half above the left elbow. They reset the bone and cast it at south lake regional hospital, then sent her to sick kids to see orthopedic surgeon there for emergency sergery, they put in 3 rods and recast it. She had a 3 day stay at sick kids and is now home resting very uncomfortably, even though the poor little soul is well drugged! So needless to say, I will be back when I am able, My little one needs catering to right now!  As always Thanks for stopping by!

Who Am I - My Favorite Techniques Challenge - Frosted Designs

I would have to say my favorite technique right now if flower making and embellisment making!
I love how it looks when the embelishments are made of the same paper as your layout!
Layering paper, embelishments and textures would be #2 on my favorit list!
I have done two glittery layouts of my wedding day
 in Dominican Republic!
I love the flowers made out of the co-ordinating paper!
And the swirly rhinestones!

Porzellan Potch Mug #1

This is Riley the Moose, stamped with stazon on to tissue paper and coloured with my prizma colour pencils with mineral spirits. I then trimmed the excess tissue paper off, applied a coating of Porzelan Potch on the mug, placed the coloured image onto the Porzelan Potch, the brushed another coat over top of my coloured image. You bake your mug in the over at 130 Celsius for 90 minutes.

Vowla, a dishwasher safe personalized mug!

My journey or obsession, what ever you want to call it started last summer when I first saw one of these mugs done. I am not exaggerating when I say it took me months to find an English site where I could order it. This product is made in Germany and sold in Europe. But eventually I found a site it Cyprus that was English and ordered it and had some shipped to me (and two of my friends).
This is my first attempt at the technique!
So far I am very impressed.

They also sell a similar product for candles (of course I bought it a matching cup, mug and card sounds great to me), and for fabric.

I can see many of these mug or other porcelin pieces in my crafting future! What great gifts you can create!  I am picturing thank you gifts for teachers, Christmas gifts, mothers day.........

Flutterby Wednesday #98

I have had these butterfly card floating around in my mind for awhile now, I have pictured them in a couple of different ways!  I actually purchased this "Close to my Heart" butterfly stamp set months ago for these cards. At our club get together this past friday night, I sat and got my mojo flowing by colouring butterflies.  Tonight the creativity bug bit my finally and vola, two cards.  While I was sitting her posting them, a thought hit me, I wonder whats up this week at flutterby Wednesdays, and its an open challenge week, so my cards are perfect!! Couldn't have worked out better if I planned it!
I hope you enjoy them!

2010 Card #1 - Happy Birthday Mom

Well even though my goal is to scrapbook this year as my focus, there are still birthdays and other occasions that need cards and when you are a papercrafter, there is no buying cards accepted!
So I have cards to make.
I like to get them done ahead of time so there is no last minute rushing, I have made a list of occasions and will work on them here and there.
This is for my Mom's Birthday in March!

Who Am I - Post ninteen

First of all I would like to thank my dear friends that have had concerns that there is something wrong or that I am going thru something serious. Bless you all! But the truth of it is, I am just doing a book about myself and how I have personally evolved dealing or not dealing, with my weight issues. It is therapeutic and why not scrapbook and blog about it. It’s the world’s most public diary you could say. I used to keep journals of my thoughts and now I am expressing them through my favorite pastimes scrapbooking and blogging!

That being said, these two pages are of my husband and I when he was sworn into the police department and the after party, at the private police bar. I was so proud of him that night and I felt so embarrassed to have to meet all these new people. You all probably think I am being silly, but I felt as self conscious that night, as you would walking through your local grocery store naked.
